Cybersecurity Veteran Kurt Lee Joins IoT Security Leader to Help Enterprises Safely Adopt IoT & Build Partner Program

Boston, MA – Today, Internet of Things (IoT) security leader Pwnie Express announces the hiring of Kurt Lee, vice president of sales and strategic accounts. Lee brings nearly three decades of large-enterprise and partner experience across the healthcare, financial services, government and energy sectors.

“Kurt gives us the ability to work strategically with partners and large organizations that are looking to better understand how to address the security problem created by the fast growth of business enabling IoT,” said Pwnie Express CEO Paul Paget. “IoT is increasingly being installed in industries that range from automated retail systems, to entertainment, to healthcare, to process control and manufacturing and more. These systems are often unable to incorporate traditional IT security solutions that are intrusive. Our customers and partners are looking for a partner that can incorporate non-intrusive threat detection capabilities into their IoT systems and services.”

One of Kurt’s first initiatives with Pwnie will be the building of “Stampede”, Pwnie’s IoT security channel program. Kurt will work with managed security service providers (MSSPs), value-added resellers (VARs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Stampede will provide resellers and partners with strong margins, sales tools, and marketing resources to identify opportunities to generate new revenue and help protect customers from IoT threats.

Lee worked as a sales and business development executive during the formative stages of NetWitness, Q1 Labs, ArcSight, and Riptech. He’s also served as vice president for EMC/RSA working on the company’s worldwide strategic alliances. Further, Lee also founded Project Sheepdog, an organization dedicated to combating the exploitation of children around the world.

“Pwnie Express made the decision to go into IoT threat detection before customers even understood the risks created by this new generation of connected systems,” Lee said. “At all levels of the cybersecurity community – from developers to executives – Pwnie is recognized as a leader with a history of building innovative security products. I am very excited to be working with Paul and his team.”
